My 5 favorite Supplements or “What do you take?”

I get asked that question often – “what do you take?” or “is that all you take?”

I take a few things that are known to do good things in the human body (i.e. through research, etc.).

So, ready? Here we go:


JuicePlus+ – it’s fruits, veggies and berries in capsules. I take them every day –  I love knowing that I am eating 25 different types of fruits, veggies and berries and getting all those nutrients! Added bonus: I love that I get my pregnancy requirement of folic acid through the natural source, food! It is called folate.

We keep hearing that we need to be eating 7-13 servings/day of fruits and veggies. I know that as a mom, there are good days, there are great days, there are epic failures and there are airport days (with just about everything in between). So it is hard to be consistent! And it can be even harder with kids, especially if one has gone on a vegetable strike! I love this because it is easy and my kids love it because there are chewables for kids! Cod Liver Oil! Seriously, you ask? Yep, seriously! It comes in capsules though. Why? Most of us have probably heard we should be eating fish oil for the Omega 3’s. Well, traditional cultures ate Cod Liver oil.  Pre World War II, many children grew up taking cod liver oil daily. I give my girls this every morning after breakfast ( I take the capsules and they get the gel). This is a special blend using 2 oils that work great on their own, but work awesomely together!! Vitamin D-3. Yep, we can get it from sunlight, but the likelihood of having enough from the sun, especially living in the midwest, is unlikely. I wasn’t too sure about this one at first. Then I tried it, and felt great! I get mine from the health food store. You can also find it at Amazon here:


Probiotics. This is what I take.  Probiotics help to bring/keep one’s gut into balance. It is a form of good bacteria. There are many brands out there, and this is the one I find that is most frequently recommended. So I went with that. Find it on Amazon:


Dessicated Liver. I like this brand very much – it is from cows that are only grass-fed (super important). Beef liver is found to be a great source of energy.  Here is what liver provides (from the website below)

So that’s what I take every day. I try to get most of my nutrition from the food I eat.  I love these things because of what they do for my body.
