Sore throats and how to deal

First time I have been “sick” in a year and a half. I love it that by eating well we end up sick less often. The fact is though, we do get sick. And this is a mild one, but I thought you all would like to know some of the tricks and tips I pull out. So, in Quick Takes:

Garlic-Ginger Paste

Immune Spiker

  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Olive Oil

Note: It is helpful, though not necessary, to use a food processor to chop all the ingredients together.

  1. Chop fine equal parts garlic and ginger.
  2. Mix with olive oil til covered. Keeps for a long time in the fridge.
  3. We use a teaspoonful/day on toast for immune boost in times of sickness. Chase with orange juice if spicy.

Lots of vitamin C

Extra servings of our whole food supplement. I take it every 3-4hours as an immune boost.

Yep, sometimes we just have to take a nap or go to bed early.

Water. As often as you can.

Honey Tonic

  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup of honey

  1. Blend together all ingredients.
  2. Keep on counter and give 1 tsp. as needed. Keeps for 1 week.

We go through this fast – it is very soothing on an inflamed throat!

Essential oils!

I am still deciding which brand I like best but my 2 favorites are listed down at the bottom. I make a blend of Rosemary, Eucalyptus, and Lemon in a carrier oil (coconut, olive).  This is my GO-TO oil blend for anything chest/cold related. I rub it on my kids chest, forehead, and carefully from their nose to their cheekbones.  In fact, I think I will go put some on now….
